which one?

A question about : which one?

I am intending to use some of my savings to purchase a car.

Would I be best using my current account money with IF which offsets my mortgage (mortgage rate currently 6.1%apr) or my ISA with nationwide (currently 4.85%pa)? Does it matter?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

How to haggle

A question about : How to haggle

A couple of people mentioned haggling in the teenager thread but rather than going off topic I thought I'd start a new thread.

The British hardly ever try it and are hopeless when they do. So here are my top 10 tips on how to go about it. Feel free to add more.

1. Haggle with the right person. Don't waste your breath on a shop assistant with no authority to negotiate. Ask to speak to somebody who can. Ignore any comments from low ranking shop assistants who say the prices are fixed.

HELP!! How can he get a bank a/c??

A question about : HELP!! How can he get a bank a/c??

A friend of mine lives in the Essex area in a private rent, multioccupied accommodation. (Shared kitchen/bathroom; private room)

In order to open a Bank Account, he needs to have a ultility bill with his name and address on it. However, he pays the landlord rent (as do the other 5 tenants) and the bills are inclusive - so NO ultility bills to provide with *his* name attached to the address.

Abbey debit card daily withdrawal limit

A question about : Abbey debit card daily withdrawal limit

I want to use my Abbey debit card to pay 10K into my Egg savings account.

    Egg's site says:

"You can add Switch, Solo and Delta card details to your accounts address book, and you can pay in up to Ј10,000 per day, although this limit depends on your bank's authorisation limit."

I have asked Abbey twice but they do not know what I am talking about (once referrring to Ј500 limit cash withdrawal - not the case and secondly saying there is no limit).

Another one to add to the list

A question about : Another one to add to the list

Open a new Plus Account, complete a full switch using the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ and close your old bank account.
Pay at least Ј1,200 per month into your Plus Account.
To qualify, open a new Plus Account and complete a full switch from Monday 12 January 2015. This will require you to use the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ to transfer all of your active credits and debits from your old bank account and close that account.

    Euro conversion

A question about : Euro conversion

I hope to be shortly receiving an inheritance from a relative in Ireland, so I expect it will be in Euro's (tax paid) What is the most cost effective way, of converting the money to sterling, or will all banks rip me off. I intend to invest the bulk of the inheritance, but don't know if one company charges less and gives the proper rate for the conversion over any other.

    Thanks
