A question about : Santander

Checked my account this morning and it is showing a cheque debited yesterday - a Saturday. I don't think I have ever seen anything debited on a non banking day before, is this something new ?

A question about : HSBC Currency Transfer refund

I lived in the Middle east for some time and banked with HSBC. They contacted me in November saying they had reviewed their currency transfer policies and they felt that some charges were not clear and that they would be sending me a refund of approximately AED 1200 (200 Pounds).

They have now sent me a cheque with an accompanying letter stating if they do not hear from me in 30 days they consider the matter closed.

A question about : Overdraft charges

Hi all hope it's right to post here
I have an agreed overdraft limit
I have no credit or store cards it is the only thing I've ever used
I'm trying really hard this ur to clear it/ lower it,but I'm being charged Ј36 mth for it and that money would be wittling away at lowering it!
I'm on a very tight budget but have lowered quite a few things this month like car insurance,pet insurance and dog food,finishing what I owe mum, so hoping to creep it down.

A question about : FSCS Protection With Joint & Single Accounts ?

Scenario:

Mr Dog has Ј80,000 with Banana Bank
Mrs Cat has Ј80,000 with Pineapple Bank
Mr & Mrs Dog have Ј80,000 in a joint account with Pineapple Bank also.

Should Pineapple Bank go broke, would the entire Ј160,000 be safe or would it be only the first Ј85,000 as Mrs Cat already has an account with her name attached to it?

We were arguing this at work today and nobody could actually find an answer.

A question about : Deaf guy who has made a possibly bad financial decision

As a deaf guy, I get approx Ј200 in DLA per month. No other income.

I decided to buy a car, spending Ј1k in car, Ј2k in insurance. This was in response to commuting approx 1.5 hours per day, 5 times a week which has been reduced to approx 45 minutes + better stability + less stress.

I have 2 debit cards, one ~Ј500, another ~Ј300.

I will need to save up about Ј1.5k before Christmas for insurance renewal as well as paying up Ј1k for uni fees (to be paid on sept).

Ever since contactless started to become a big thing, I've struggled to understand the point. I've never been in a pub with a contactless reader, and for supermarkets I don't see much difference between contactless and chip & pin.

A question about : credit check for reducing overdraft

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if Banks can do a credit check for reducing your overdraft. I thought it was a bit strange the bank saying this to me but agreed to it at the time, in hind sight I probably should have questioned it more.

Its a bit odd doing a credit check to reduce my overdraft from Ј700 to Ј300 - any info would be much appreciated
