A company charged me Ј25 to transfer funds to my UK account without warning me. Is this legal?

A question about : Being paid from abroad

I am self employed. I regularly work abroad (mainly in the EU) as well as in the UK.

I invoice companies abroad for the work and this money gets paid into my current account.

I bank with Nat West. I shudder to think how much they have taken off me in fees over the years for processing foreign payments.

Is there a better way to arrange being paid from abroad? Which bank has the lowest fees?

My business does not have a large turnover, I am not VAT registered.

A question about : Best account to open and switch from

Please can anyone recommend any suitable current accounts, to be opened just for the purpose of switching to another provider that offers a reward?

I was looking at Ffrees, because opening an account with them wouldn't use up any credit checks. But they're not a bank, so could you still switch accounts in the usual way?

A question about : advice re standing order timing

Hi,
when 'rolling' money around to fund various a/c requirements, I have always allowed 4 days between Јout > Јin (then one day Јback in to original interest earning a/c), so as to make sure that I do not go overdrawn due to a weekend/bank holiday.
Am I right in assuming that transactions do not take place on a weekend, etc ? Or is it safe to transfer out one day and back the next.
Do not want to do all these manually, but by s/order
Just concerned re the loss of interest.

A question about : Club Lloyds current account

My wife applied for a Lloyds Club current account over the Internet. She's a home maker, so declared Ј0 income etc. She didn't ask for an overdraft.

Internet came back with approved (even showed sort code/account number), but said please provide ID in branch, which she duly did, only to receive an email a week later to say she's been declined (presumably after a human being reviewed her application).

A question about : Lloyd's Club Account and contactless cards

The Lloyds site FAQ couldn't give me an answer and there's no way of emailing them if you're not a customer but does this account give you a contactless card optout?

I have seen this question asked and have seen multiple answers, is there a limit on single and joint current accounts someone can have?

We have gone from having a joint packaged bank account (nothing wrong with it and no miss selling) to multiple accounts.
