Secured loan to clear credit card debt????

A question about : Secured loan to clear credit card debt????

Hi
I would really appreciate some advice cos I haven slept in weeks.........my husband and I owe Ј46500 on credit cards/ car loans. They are currently on 0% deals! however are due to come to an end soon. Our current mortgage is Ј166,000 and our house is worth Ј400,000, so there is plenty of equity.
We have been trying to pay the credit cards off, however not getting very far and realising that the 0% rates are coming to an end we approached our mtg lender who said not at the moment.

Where would this sit morally?

A question about : Where would this sit morally?

Hi all,

My question is one of morality only, and the point of this post is to get a cross-section of opinions. This doesn't really fit into any forum, and I ask here as hopefully the responses will be from people in positions where they, like me, are not so great on the balance-sheet front.

Nuisance Automated Voicemail from Moorcroft Debt Recovery

4A question about : Nuisance Automated Voicemail from Moorcroft Debt Recovery

Just posting this here as a little concerned as to how they got my number.

I had an automated electronic (non-Human) audio voicemail left on my mobile today, the number was 0161 475 2875 and it asked me to ring 0161 475 2861. I googled this and came up as Moorcroft Debt recovery.

Alarm bells rang as it would with anyone, as I am not in any kind of situation that would lead to an organisation like Moorcroft getting involved. Do have some debts like most but all in hand.

New product, same lender whilst on dmp?

A question about : New product, same lender whilst on dmp?

Hi all

Just wondering, I have been on a DMP just under a year and my mortgage deal is ending.

We are with halifax, on a 6.29% rate. I understand if we do nothing, we will automatically go on to their SVR which is 3.99%

Halifax have a much cheaper deal than the SVR, can I switch to this or will they run credit checks and refuse? It is the same lender and we are not borrowing any more?

Back again.... And in even more trouble.....

A question about : Back again.... And in even more trouble.....

Hi all

I have been on a DMP with step change for the last 4-5 months. Things were going very well at the start, my finances were getting back in order and the stress from debtors contacting me constantly was gone.

About 2 months back my car had to have major repair and i had to take out a payday loan to cover the cost. I had to do this as i need my car for work and i would not be able to work without it.

County Court Claim on old debt

A question about : County Court Claim on old debt

Hi,

my husband has received a county court claim form for an old debt that we believe may be statute barred.

as per advice from step change, we have written to the company in question saying we don't admit liability and asking for proof that its not statute barred, but the debt in question does not show up on his credit report anymore, so is the debt still enforceable?

thanks
