A question about : Benefit and help entitlement (Housing benefit)

Heres the situation.

- Living in a 3 bedroom house with 3 people living here including myself. It is owned by 1 of the family members here.

- 2 of the bedrooms are used, the 3rd bedroom was another family members who passed away a few years ago. This cannot be used as a bedroom due to it being filled with memories of the family member who passed away and my mothers medical equipment (who is terminally ill).

Hi all
My wife's SSP has finished so we applied for Contribution based ESA (I work full time, so no income based ESA).
Got a letter from the job centre on Sat to say due to insufficient NI in 12-13 & 13-14 tax years, she's not getting any ESA.
How do we check if this is correct? What is 'sufficient'?

Am I right to assume that the Decision Makers' Guide applies to UC claimants?

I'm assisting a claimant with a potential appeal and/or complaint re UC/the DWP.

The claimant claimed UC online last month and whilst he was made aware that payment will take 5 weeks, he was concerned that the JCP staff appeared unable to answer most of his queries re his claim or the Claimant Commitment.

[although to be fair to the JCP staff: they didn't seem too sure of how any of this UC worked. ]

A question about : Disabled child housing benefit ?

Hi,

My partners learning disabled son lives with the two of us and is 19 years old. We have tried supported living for him however, he is unhappy as he has complex needs (IBS, stroke, behavioural difficulties). He is currently at college full time (however this will end in July).

I know that children who live with their parents cannot claim housing benefit however, we are renting from an estate agency who manages the property on behalf of a private landlord.

A question about : How will claimants receving child tax credits be affected by universal credit?

Just wondering if anyone knows how universal credit will affect someone receiving child tax credits (with the higher rate for a disabled) child, and what transitional protection, if any is built in?

A question about : Help! Spent housing benefit repaying old debt

Hi. Ok,I know I have done a wrong thing. A debt from my past turned up demanding what was owed and was prepared to hurt me to get it. I used a large portion of my housing benefit payment to pay the debt off in full (approx Ј300) and i now have no way to make up the shortfall. Could anyone please offer advice as i am worried that i could lose the flat. HELP!
