A question about : Splott, Cardiff

Is anyone familiar with Splott in Cardiff (or it's reputation)?

I'm looking at potentially moving to Cardiff, and know what certain areas are like... but not particularly this one!

I'm gathering that it had a bad reputation but may be semi-gentrified as one comment suggested - any thoughts?

A question about : Practical Car/Van Rental Caerphilly -AVOID !!!

Hired a mini-bus yesterday to take my son and some of his friends to Snowdome in Tamworth for his birthday.

Mini-bus we had from these people was a complete shed. Never hired a vehicle in such a bad state or repair.

Battery flat twice. Took ages to jump start it - we missed our first booking at snowdome. Cost me Ј40 to pay again. Then had to jump start it again to come home.

A question about : remote living

Anyone out there living in the back of beyond?

I am considering moving to a remote area, a farm in the middle of nowhere, accessed via a track and only by 4 x 4. Trying to put the romantic side of things out of my head, getting to the practicalities.

There is electricity, running water, oil heating, phone line. Limited broadband, no mobile signal, there is a neighbour about half a mile away. They get snowed in once or twice a year.

A question about : Student storage this summer in Cardiff and Belfast ???

My daughter is a student living in a rented house in Cardiff (near the city centre) and has no car.

We live in Belfast N.Ireland (a few miles from Queens University )

Our daughter needs to come home from Cardiff for the summer - at the end of May/start of June - and doesnt need to be back (to a different house) in Cardiff until September.

A question about : Damp

Hi, I am trying to find out if there are any grants available to damp proof our home.
Just about every room has damp in it, a few walls severely, so the plaster is falling off!
I would be grateful for any advice. Thank you
