A question about : Cash In Hand

I pay tax and NI so I think these trades people who get cash in hand and don't declare all their earnings are well out of order. Why should a plumber or similar only declare 60% of their earnings and how many offer their customers a receipt without having to be asked over and over?

Hi all,

I have recently taken voluntary redundancy after being with my previous employer for ten years so I haven't been a job seeker for sometime and I was wondering if what I experienced last week was usual now.

I made appointments to register with some local agencies and one was very insistent (to the point of being quite pushy) on taking a photo of me. I declined (politely but quite firmly in the end) but the lady seemed very put out.

Ok a quick (or maybe rambling) question about wages.

So I work in the public sector and have been subject to a pay freeze for the past few years. However the company has been hiring new staff on fixed term contracts which pay significantly more than what I earn as a full time member of staff, these fixed term contracts usual last 12 - 24 months.

My Wife has been employed by a the same company for 11 years, In May last year we adopted 2 sibling children and she took 5 months upaid adoption leave (with Statutory Adoption Pay paid and reclaimed should they wish by the company)

Her job title was officially as a PA to the MD, but she had many other roles and responsibilities with usually a busy work schedule, which she enjoyed going to work (most!) days
