A question about : New FIT rates from April

Not seen any posts on this but as the RPI figures have been released for December the new FIT rates can be worked out.

Looks like it should be an increase of 1.6% as that was RPI - fortunately not the much lower CPI figure! So the main rate for original installations should be 48.8p per kWh as of April.

A question about : Virtual slaps

I have felt a few virtual slaps on this forum for sharing ideas that are money saving but not considered to be green and ethical. It is perhaps a little awkward that most solar postings appear here. Perhaps emotive issues such as immersion diversion should be posted in the Energy forum where virtual slaps are less likely.

A question about : Boiler/iboost thermostat settings

Looking for some advice on thermostat settings.
We have solar iboost. The water cylinder is Megaflo CL250 (250 litres).

I vaguely remember people saying to set the thermostat on the boiler/cylinder lower than the iboost.
Can anyone advise on settings (we have hard water here but a water softener installed).

A question about : Does anyone here use Enphase Enlighten?

A question about : Solar PV, Where Do I Start, HELP!!!

We're looking into getting solar PV's but haven't a clue where to start.

(A short story).....

We face 10 degrees from south, but have always been turned down in the past for even RaR schemes. Maybe it's because we have a window in the roof for the loft room.

I spotted an ad in a magazine for a 'simulation to try before you buy via Panasonic.' Therefore I replied to it and a rep came last week to give us a quote. Ј4365 for 6 panels, and so left it at that to think about it.

A question about : iboost 2nd feed question

I have an iboost feeding the immersion heater but as the immersion is at the top of the tank it gets up to temp pretty quick then shuts off and there is only enough for 1 shower. there looks like there is a place for a second immersion heater at the bottom of the tank so has anyone put a second immersion heater into thier tank and can you use a second feed from the iboost (im sure it has 2 feeds) to start heating from the bottom of the tank after the top of the tank has reached temp?

A question about : Solar Panel Warranties

In the process of obtaining quotes, one company asking Ј9k but offering 25 year warranty on panels
Seen one company online offering Ј5k but with a 10 year warranty.

I believe the Ј9k is way too high and am in the process of looking at alternatives however.

My question is it is worth paying extra for a longer warranty?
