A question about : EST Solar Calculator reliability?

Hi there. How reliable is the energy saving trust solar calculator compared to real experiences?

I have a roof facing south at 120* degrees East with a 45* degree inclination.

For a 4kw system the calculator says the KWH raised will be 2287.

I probably have the worst roof for solar panels but I am still willing to see if I can save some money.

What are current Solar Panel owners & users thoughts?

My ultimate goal is to have a comfortable, worry free life and with that in mind I was considering how to reduce or remove my utility bills. I have various options with the gas and electricity bills (PV, insulation, etc.) that I've put / I'm putting into practice and now I'm turning my attention to the water bill.

Looking for any information on grants available to harness water power to provide electricity! I live next to a source of constant running water.

A question about : So now I have a solar PV system how do I make the most of it???

Dear all. I know there are several threads about solar PV but many of them are debating whether or not they are a good idea and if the free ones are worth having. All of which is valid debate. Stuck in the middle of some of these threads I have found the odd tip about how to make the most of the generated electricity but they can be difficult to pick out.
So I wondered if we could have a new thread where people share their tips for making the most of the electricity that they generate.

A question about : Hot water cylinder temperatures (to do with Legionella)

The standard advice across the UK internet is to heat water cylinders to between 60 and 65 degrees to be sure of avoiding Legionella.

Now if I heat the cylinder with Solar from the top (thermostat set to maximum) and with gas from the bottom, can I reduce the lower thermostat below 60 degree during months of good generation without Legionella risk?

A question about : Wattson Anywhere or energyhive hub?

Simple question... Wattson Solar Plus on its way, so do I spend Ј50 on the Wattson Anywhere or Ј30 on the energyhive hub?
Both look the same to me, and energyhive does work with the Wattson transmitter.
Why the price difference? Both link to energyhive's website to show the statistical data too from what I can tell at Wattson's live demo page.
