A question about : ASHP – Should do better

At the risk of mortally offending the ASHP aficionados on this forum, there really must be something done about curbing the enthusiasm for this technology until the industry - manufacturers, installers or both - has come to grips with their problems.

A question about : Central heating

Excuse my ignorance, not really up to speed on all things like this.

Currently my block of flats does not have any gas supply. The flat used to be heated by storage heaters but we replaced them with standard wall mounted heaters as they were a right eyesore

We are now at the point where we would love central heating. Can anyone fill me in on our options with this lack of gas supply?

It is a fairly small 2 bed ground floor flat. Budget not massive!

We recently moved in to our new home (to us) and it has LPG central heating and it's the first time I've not been on mains gas so have a couple of newbie questions

1. The previous owners had recently signed a new contact with Avanti Gas to supply LPG - am I tied to them also?

I am looking for any advice and knowledge of the above company and hope that someone can help me out! I am very sceptical for some reason on letting these guys do cavity wall insulation on my new home ( we have just moved in! ). However my husband insists that all is ok but I am not so sure. We have been quoted Ј199 and work will be done for cavity wall and loft insulation.

A question about : Windhager Biowin2

Hi,

Bit of an unusual one. I have recently had a BioWin2 installed but the comissioning date has been delayed by over a week. The boiler is working but guzzling pellets at a frightening rate.

I expect the settings have not been tuned for the feed etc so a lot is being wasted.

Any people with advice (an engineer would be perfect) that can advise on what to check on the menus so I can get the efficiency better till the proper comissioning?

A question about : Choosing an Installer for Oil Central Heating

We are completely re-plumbing our very rural bungalow, including central heating by oil boiler. We've had 3 quotes for the heating, ranging from well over Ј10k to under Ј7k for this part of the work.

The expensive guy, who specialises in Worcester Bosch, probably doesn't want or need the job, leaving two others who have both specified a pressurised system using Grant boilers with 250-300l unvented cylinders. One said Gledhill.

A question about : no gas supplied

hello.ive recently just divorced and bought a bungelow which still has solid fuel and electric heaters.i want to have gas fitted and central heating.the gas board have quoted 470 to have gas installed with a meter.im not elligable for any benefits but wondered if there any grants available for having heated fitted or the cheapest way of doing this.many thanks
