A question about : Oil energy saving

This may seem like a silly question, but do you save the amount of oil used in the same way you would save gas and electricity or can you not be more efficient because the oil burns at the same rate when you need to power the burner for hot water and heating?

What i mean is if I turn off some radiators but have others on does it consume the same amount of oil as having them all on? They are not thermostated so either hot or cold.

Any tips on how to consume less fuel would be greatly received

A question about : tariff not covered in cheap energy club

I joined the energy club but could not choose the tariff I have which is EDF eco 20:20.
At the moment this suits me as we have solar panels and save electricity in the day. It is difficult to compare with the other tariffs on this basis. I can total up my units used and compare on that basis myself but have to compare with each separate provider's tariff but this takes ages .

They appear to be modern storage heaters with sophisticated electronic controls and the ability to retain heat for longer than the older storage heaters.

A question about : Central Heating Oil

Strange request I know, but does anyone know if you can get oil in a container rather than a tanker delivering it???

The prooblem is that I have purchased a house and the oil drum/container is at the back of the property and it has just run out. Unfortunately there is no side entrance to the property, and the previous owner used to run the pipe over a neighbours property but this is not feasible now.

Anyone got any suggestions???

PS: I'm getting a quote to pipe gas to the property but that will take 6-8 weeks.

A question about : Thermostat with oil heating

Having just moved into a new house - I am having some difficulty with the heating.

There is a condenser boiler installed - oil heating - seems pretty new.

In the hallway is a timer - programmer.

Nearby also in the hallway is a thermostat.

If I have the programmer set on 'continuous' and the thermostat set at either 10/20 or 30 degrees, I think it makes no difference to how hot the house/radiators get.

I currently live in a semi detached three bedroom house, its a very good sized house but not massive. I have a log burner that generates most of my heating down stairs. On December 12 we had our tank filled back up which took 304l and last week we had another 352l topped up. Does this sound a lot or is this normal??
