A question about : Heating Oil

Just obtained a quote for 1000 litres of heating oil from Boilerjuice @ 23.85p/ltr. Other local quotes came in at 24.5p/ltr and 24.75p/ltr.

I told the supplier of the latter price, they matched it - no quibble.

Just another option when getting quotes.

A question about : Efficient boiler flow/water temperature?

Hi all,

I am trying to work out what would be best for me to get better efficiency.

I live in a house built in the early 1900s and it has sash windows, so not particularly great for holding heat.

My boiler is a Vaillant ecomax condenser boiler

Would running it 24/7 be better or would using a timer for when I need it be better?

A question about : Logs v Brickettes on log burner

Hi probably on here already but
I was wondering what is more efficent and economical to use in a wood burning stove?
The logs you buy of the log man seasoned but damp or the brickettes you can buy online
Ive had some samples and they burn well but can it be as economical as they say?
Any help would be really helpful

A question about : Pitfalls of buying a multifuel stove

My wife and I purchased a multifuel Portway 1 Stove last year with an outside flu installation from a firm in Colchester Road.
We thought the stove looked dusty when it was delivered for installation with no manual or tools.However although the stove worked fine to begin with we asked that the double walled flue pressing against our plastic gutter be adjusted plus we were advised the flu was too close to our roof being to short.

just thought I'd add my biomass experiences to this thread.
A year ago we changed from an old 15 year old oil boiler (from previous owners of our property) to biomass pellet system.
Hope the following provides a little help.

We had a MCZ Red Compact 35 biomass installed with a separate 200L heatbank upstairs located in the 1st floor airing cupboard to replace the old oil boiler and accumulator installation. The flue in our existing chimney was sized, lined and insulated by the installer.

A question about : Worcester Bosch 36 CDi or Baxi platinium 40kw

I've had quote to install both from different engineers.

As far as I can gather both boilers cost about the same, the advantage of the Baxi is it has a 10 year parts and labour warranty against the five years of the Worcester. The quote for installing the Worcester is about Ј100 more.

Both quotes include chemical clean and power flushing the system, which currently runs off a Worcester 350 combi,.
