Claim interest on money refunded?

A question about : Claim interest on money refunded?

We have just finished convincing our water supplier that our 'surface water' is drained on site rather than via a public sewer and we have received a refund for each six-monthly Bill since 2006.
This has resulted in a nice little refund (especially just before Xmas) but should I also be able to claim interest on the accrued overpayments?
Thanks Kacey

Turning off mains water

A question about : Turning off mains water

Hi,

I'm going to be leaving my flat for two weeks over Christmas, and I was considering turning off the mains water before I leave. I have a water meter and would feel a bit paranoid about possible pipe bursts/leaks costing me lots of money. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

Thanks

Best answers:

  • No, lots of people do so - especially if there is the risk of pipes freezing.
  • We always turn the mains off when going away, even in summer.

Yorkshire Water meter Charges question please

A question about : Yorkshire Water meter Charges question please

Hi everyone,

We had a water meter fitted last week and took a reading this morning to see how much we had used in one week.
Last Thursday when the meter was installed it read 00000 000 (obviously!) and today it reads 00001 365, so that's 1365 litres of water in a week? 1.365 cubic meters?

Commercial water use at residential address

A question about : Commercial water use at residential address

Wondered if any Northumbrian Water rep could help me?

I'm self-employed and run a small cleaning company with my OH.
We use about 3000 litres of water a week. We take the water from our home address.
Our current water company asks us to estimate what % of our usage is domestic and what is for our business and bills us accordingly.
