At the moment, there are two of us in four-bed house and buy.co.uk tells me we could save Ј90 a year by switching to a water meter. I read in Martin's book you could switch back within a year so can you not switch back after a year ever?

A question about : Anglian Water and credit rating

I continued with a direct debit with Anglian Water after they never sent me bills and allowed me to clock up a bill over Ј1000.
When they finally sent me a letter last August I paid Ј500 immediately and agreed the rest be paid monthly by upping my DD.

I ' had,' an unblemished credit score and applied for a loan at the weekend. Both my husband and I were declined!??

A question about : HELP water bill..!!

Hi,

I am a student living in a two bedroom block of FLATS in sheffield.
We have no dishwasher, occasionally have baths, and do a reasonable amount of washing.

Our water bill (we have a meter) has come for the quarter. (1/9/04 to 31/12/04)

It is Ј100.07
We have apparently used 49 units of water.

Water Charged at 86.20p = Ј42.24
Standing Charge = Ј 7.07

Sewearge at 89.30p = Ј41.57
Standing charge = Ј00.35

Surface water = Ј8.84

A question about : Paying for repairs to water pipes

I received a letter today from Thames Water asking me to pay Ј16 a year to cover myself against the cost of repairs to the part of the water pipe that I am responsible for. (Apparently "from the boundary of the public highway to where it goes under my outside wall&quot. Their reasoning was

A question about : water saving grants

just moving into a new house where the previous owner had a water meter fitted, we cannot get it removed so need to find ways to save ( legally ) ie: not plumbing into next doors supply, we have decided to use water butts and filters and by collecting rain water can expect to collect enough for the garden, loo and washing machine. this will save about Ј120 pa but will cost approx Ј1200 to buy + installation, does anybody know of any grants available to help with the setup costs.

I will be having a water meter fitted in the next 3 months.

Do i continue as i am with the usage,or even use more,so that when i get my first bill,i can see if it is going to save money?

Or,do i start trying to cut down asap,but does this give a false idea of how much i can save?

i am in the middle of buying my first house with my future Mrs P. i just wondered if anyone could give me advice with regards bills.. i have researched how much they will cost etc but wondered where am i best going for gas, electricity, water and all other rates i will be needing! any/all info greatly recieved! .. help! where do i start?
