A question about : Is Tax paid on Refunded Uni Fees ?

I have searched the forums for an answer but hope someone can help
My son completed the GDL last year (Law degree) and has since obtained a training contract with a magic circle law firm which involves the refund of GDL fees. We paid the fees from taxable income , as the refund will be paid to him , will this be taxable

I'm originally from Scandinavia and have been studying in the UK for 4 years now, about to graduate from a reputable UK university, most likely with a first degree (BBA).

A question about : Do savings affect student finance?

I am wondering if I start saving now for my 1 year old, in order to contribute to university costs, could her having savings, impact her ability down the line to apply for student loans/scholarships/grants etc.

Whilst coming out of university debt free would be a great thing to achieve, if the loan rates are lower than interest on savings, particularly is a JISA is used, it could be worth while taking out loans and keeping the savings.

I'm appyling to go to univeristy in 2015/2016, and I have recently been emailed about student finance.
I was wondering - should I wait until after the elections in May in case the government change policies to do with student loans, or would it be better to apply now?

Hi,
I'm unsure if this is the correct place for this but here goes!

My son is considering an educational support scheme for his 8 year old son, to assist him with English and Maths. This is being supplied over 4 years at a cost of Ј17.40 Per Week by the above (SSC).
Whilst I'm very happy that he wants to help his son, I'm concerned at
a, the outlay
b, the 4 year term.

Has anyone had any experience of this scheme or company?
