A question about : value of this freehold ground rent

Hello,

So I am going to be meeting with the freeholder for a block consisting of ground floor shop, first floor 1 bed flat, second floor 1 bed flat.

Now I own the first floor flat, and the terms of the two flats are the same 124 year lease, Ј150 yr ground rent doubling every 25 years. the shop was sold with a 15 year lease from 2013.

The building has a service charge of 25% to each leaseholder which mostly consists of just building insurance.

Anyone not received their annual January statements for fixed rate accounts? Some of mine turned up but not all and just wondering whether anyone else was in a similar position. Thanks

Anyone who has this account will have received notification that the monthly amount has gone up from Ј250 to Ј500 (also the interest rate is going up, but they don't tell you that in the mailing).

Don't throw the junk mail element of the letter away without looking at it though - one of the flyers is a referral that allows you to recommend a friend or family member to open a savings account, and both receive Ј10 in vouchers.

You are getting 5.5% for a current account, and if you put in more than Ј1,000 a month you get free annual travel insurance. There are some catches, though.

A question about : what to do with my money?

i currently have Ј3000 in a halifax websaver and Ј750 in an egg savings account, but i now have a spare Ј1000 to put somewhere but dont want to put it in an isa, any ideas?

• Why don't you want to put it in an ISA, if you don't mind me asking? If you are a taxpayer, then a good ISA account will give you by far the best rate after tax.
  Failing that, the highest instant access rate on offer seems to be the cahoot savings account paying 5.5%.

A question about : Aviva

Got some information through last night from Aviva. I think it is asking whether or not I want to take my dividends as additional shares or if I want to keep getting the money transferred to my bank account. I assume all Aviva shareholders got this pack, if so is my understanding correct ?

We do not have that many shares (about 400 so what would be best ? Will I still have to pay the equivalent amount of tax if I decide to take shares ?
