Return Tickets

A question about : Return Tickets

I need to travel to the NEC in just over a months time. I have only just found out that the person that was going to drive me can't so I will have to go on the train, and by this point I have missed all the best advance single ticket prices (I did have a look at the 12 week mark but at that point didn't think I needed them!) - so, after having a good look, I think the best price is going to be an Off Peak Return (travelling on a Sunday)

Cheap tickets from Aberdeen to Birmingham

A question about : Cheap tickets from Aberdeen to Birmingham

I bought my son a ticket to go to the Gadget Show Live at the NEC in Birmingam in early April. I think we would like to take the train rather than drive, as it's a fair haul from Aberdeen to Birmingham when it's supposed to be a treat.

So I'm looking for the best price tickets for one adult and one child (11)(12 by the time we travel) - travelling down Tuesday 7th April and back up either Thursday night or Friday morning.

Smaller 5-speed MTB cogs

A question about : Smaller 5-speed MTB cogs

I have an old Raleigh Triton Firejet 10-speed MTB which I commute 12.5 miles on. It must be about 20 years old; but I'm hanging on to it as all of its disadvantages will only make me fitter!

It has a 14-28 rear hub, and the largest crank gear has 48 teeth.

On downhill sections I'm limited to about 32mph because I can't physically move my feet any faster, so I want to change the gear ratios so I can go faster.

Is there such thing as a 5-speed screw-on type hub with a smaller gearset than 14-28?

'Red Spotted Hanky' introducing new fee's on bookings.

A question about : 'Red Spotted Hanky' introducing new fee's on bookings.

Just had the following e-mail from 'Red Spotted Hanky' stating that they are introducing new fee's on bookings.

At redspottedhanky.com we pride ourselves on being totally honest and transparent with our customers. That's why we wanted to let you know about a couple of changes we've had to make to our booking and delivery fees.

Booking fees - Rising costs mean that, reluctantly, we will be introducing a small charge of Ј1 when you book your tickets.

Megabus vs National Express

A question about : Megabus vs National Express

I need to travel from Manchester to London on 3rd May (the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend) but, unfortunately, there are major engineering works on the line and Virgin aren't running any trains to London so I'm looking at coaches and have a few questions:

1) Are National Express and Megabus my main options or are there any other coach companies I should look at?

Family& Friends Railcard

A question about : Family& Friends Railcard

Hi

I recently bought a F&F Railcard. I've used it once to buy tickets for an upcoming trip to London, with 2 adults and a child and had no problems.

I am now trying to use it for a trip to Leeds for 4 adults and 1 child. It gives me a price on National Rail, but then when it goes through to the Northern Rail website it pops up to say that the railcard will not work for all adults on the journey and can only be used for 2 adults.

Oyster card query

A question about : Oyster card query

I am visiting London in March for 5 days. The furthest zone we will be travelling to is likely to be Greenwich or Olympic Park.

I already have an Oyster Card, can someone advise me what is the best value way of using it.

Is it best for me to top it up before I go and how much would you think I need on it? Or is it better value just to buy a daily ticket once I am there and not use the Oyster card?

Any advice appreciated.
