How to check your Internet usage (bandwidth)

A question about : How to check your Internet usage (bandwidth)

Many forum members subscribe to popular ISP packages which impose a monthly usage limit. When this limit is exceeded the user will then be charged, usually at a set rate for each extra GB (or part of) used that month. This limit may be set as low a 2GB which can easily be exceeded on a fast connection or even on dial-up!

You may just be curious to know exactly how much bandwidth you are actually using, so that you can change to a cheaper package, hence saving money.

Madasafish Questions/answers (merged threads)

A question about : Madasafish Questions/answers (merged threads)

I am currently taking Martin's advice and switching to madasafish broadband.

They promise speeds of 8Mb a minute, but when I enter my number in their signing-up section, it indicates that my local area (Euston) has an estimated running speed of 2Mb.

Does anyone know if this means I'll be paying for 8Mb but only receiving 2Mb?

Thanks

Orange 'Free' Broadband

A question about : Orange 'Free' Broadband

I've been an Orange broadband user since the days of Wanadoo takeover.
Now, when I took out a phone contract a few years back I was given Home Broadband 'free for life' or so I thought. This was provided you kept the phone contract and it was a plan over Ј30.

Two years ago I left my contract and went Orange Pay as You Go as I was informed that as long as I kept my Orange phone and kept credit on it, the free Broadband would still continue.

A question about : Redten Internet offer FREE computer woth Ј500 if you sign up for 3 years @ Ј19.99 pm!

I read a PC Pro article last week, that showed that:

Redten Internet is raising the stakes in the highly-competitive broadband market by offering a free PC with every connection. The company will offer a Pentium 4 based system to every customer who signs up for three years of 8Mb broadband, costing £19.99 per month. Redten - the sister company of Watford Electronics - promises to upgrade customers to a 24Mb line, when the BT exchanges are upgraded.
