Great Hunt: How do you make sure your festive visitors save money?

A question about : Great Hunt: How do you make sure your festive visitors save money?

We want to tap MoneySavers' collective knowledge and find out how you prepare for visits by your loved ones at Xmas to make sure they have a MoneySaving stay. Do you get them a local train or bus pass in advance? Perhaps have a spare phone with a cheap SIM for them or get an account with a cheap overseas call provider if they're from abroad?

help cooking the christmas chicken!

A question about : help cooking the christmas chicken!

I am hosting Xmas dinner this year and our family all like to eat chicken rather than Turkey and all prefer the breast meat so pointless buying a whole chicken!
I love chicken breasts cooked in the slow cooker but its normally with a sauce, not really suitable for all the traditional trimmings that we will still be having.
So any suggestions on how to cook my Xmas chicken breasts in a slow cooker? (tried the oven last year but feel it dries them out and they were wrapped in tin foil too!)

thanks all

A riddle

A question about : A riddle

Ok so this is a little odd but I'm after a riddle!
I'm going to do a treasure hunt on Christmas Day for my husband to find his gift, I've done quite simple riddles such as you look at me and see yourself, a mirror!
There are harder ones ;-)
Anyway I would like the last riddle to lead back to me (his wife ) so I can actually give it to him, I just can't seem to think of anything. Is there any witty people out there that can help
Many thanks

The shops are filling up with all the stuff they are trying to convince us that we could not have Christmas without . It got me thinking of all the things I no longer buy and wondered how many things others had stopped buying .My list includes and this is not a full list ...
Christmas cake
Christmas pudding ( always found in the cupboard when spring cleaning )
Large tins of sweets ( they don't taste nice )
Dates and figs

Started for 2015!

A question about : Started for 2015!

Yesterday, came across a great gift, half price, which I bought for my granddaughter's 2015 Christmas stocking!

I usually set up a spread sheet on the computer listing gifts when I buy them, who they are for etc. Think this is the earliest I have started.
