A question about : Ever so pleased with myself

My OH and I are doing a lot of work preparing for Christmas. We've been out picking haws, rosehips, crabapples, sloes and blackberries like mad.

We put a whole pile of blackberries in a jar with some whisky about a month ago and just bottled some lovely blackberry whisky at the weekend. I decided it was a sin to throw the blackberries out so I made jam with them. It's delicious.

I'm so pleased I was able to get the blackberries to work for me twice because it took blooming ages to pick them!

A question about : Is it just me... Wrapaholics anonymous

I've been wondering this for a while, but I've been nervous to admit it too openly coz most people seem to think I'm crackers.

But from my recent lurking on the festive threads, I'm obviously not the only one on mse who loves Christmas... so here goes:

Am I alone in really, really loving wrapping Christmas presents? As in, it's a highlight of my festive preparations to sit surrounded by a selection of shiny paper, possibly too much sellotape and a big stash of ribbons.

A question about : Xmas `special`Magazines: is this the 1st?

Whsmiths today have The Peoples Friend , christmas special magazine on the shelf!

• I have my cross stitch Christmas edition about 3 weeks ago and they were in the shops a couple of days later. At least you can understand that it has things in that people need time to make before Christmas.

A question about : whole nutmeg

most xmas recipes i've seen (esp cake, pudding, mincemeat etc.) seem to call for nutmeg, preferably whole, freshly grated... its really expensive in the supermarket - over Ј1.50 last time i looked in tescos - so when i spotted this i was really excited!
