A question about : Redundency and COT3 agreements

Hi all,

I'm new to this board and really need some advice.

My boss has today told me that I am being made redundant. We have spoken about pay and dates etc and he has suggested that if I sign a COT3 agreement, my wages will be paid tax free at the end of the month.

I have spoken to a couple of people who have told me not to sign it as it basically suggests that I mutually agreed to terminate my contract (when I didnt have a choice) and I cannot tell future potential employees that I was made redundant.

Hi,

My husband has worked for company XXX for nearly 17 years. Part of the company supply staff members to a client company, who I'll call ABC.

Apart from a 6 month break around 12 years ago, my husband has always worked for client ABC. So he is employed by and is paid by company XXX, but his day to day dealings are with client ABC. He does the same work as other ABC employees, but is effectively employed via a third party. He is not a contractor, but an employee.

Can you tell if your company's about to go bust ?

A question about : Can you tell if your company's about to go bust ?

Hi all

Re. companies going bankrupt (or into administration), how early on do the employees get told ?

Or do they get told ?

For example, a fairly well-known business apparently bought loads of new stuff (computers etc...) about 2-3 months before it went bust !!

Presumably they knew they were in the red, but still went ahead and did what they did.

A question about : Is this legal?

My husband works for a large global company. Over the last few months he was asked to train colleagues in India how to do his job, and to write a user guide. He did ask why, and was told it was back up in case he and his UK colleague were off ill or on holiday. Yesterday my husband and his UK colleague were both told they were being made redundant and their work is moving to India.
Is this legal? Does he have grounds for unfair dismissal?

Contribution based JSA

A question about : Contribution based JSA

I am going to be made redundant end of January. I will have a generous package after many years of service but understand that I am still eligible for contribution based JSA irrespective of the size of my redundancy pay.

I have never claimed any benefit but am debating if I should apply for this as I am entitled to it however have no idea what the exact process is? How and when can I start the claim? Do I need to sign in at the job centre every week? Any pointers are appreciated.

Redundancy -delayed payment

Hi

Can anyone clarify if a company is in their right to do this

I was made redundant and my last day was 31st dec I have written confirmation that I am to be paid redundancy on 5th of jan ..this has not even been processed yet and no one even had the curtesy to call me to advise this has not been processed yet ...is this allowed ?
