A question about : Returning after redundancy, in a different role, via a contract company

Hi,

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend who will soon be made redundant. She has just been approached about returning to a different role, but employed by a service contract company. Her current company seems reluctant to allow this without a 3-month gap between her leaving and returning.

Is the company right to be reluctant, or is it being obstructive? If she was allowed to return without the 3-month gap, would the tax-free status of her redundancy be at risk?

Hi - I'm hoping for a little advice around benefits.

I've been made redundant, but the one bit of confusion for me is around benefits.

I'm getting pay in lieu of notice.

My question is - I assume that they need to pay my pension contributions for the notice period - is that into my pension or as a cash payment?

Do they have to do that for all benefits? Insurance etc? pAid as a cash amount?

I will be entitled to no redundancy payment as will have only been there a few months.

There may be additional funding for the post but this will not be known until the end of March.

I do not know how we will cope after this period of time but I will obviously have cJSA to fall back on and I will just have to take any work going.

A question about : Problems on the Horizon

I worked for a company which was sold two years ago to a big player and all the staff were tupe across.
The new company issued me a new contract which guaranteed me a minimum of four years and there after termination by giving three months either way.i never signed the contract which i have had for two years.
The company has been sold again and the new owners want to make me redundant and have advised the contract is not valid given it was not signed by me.
Any views would be appreciable on there comments

A question about : Partial Year NI Contributions after Redundancy

Does anyone know what constitutes a qualifying year for NI contributions? I have taken redundancy with 34 years and 9 months of contributions paid. I am not eligible for benefits and am not seeking employment nor am I of retirement age. Will I need to pay these missing weeks after the end of the Tax year?

My job has become under threat of redundancy at work. My employer, however, is offering me an enhanced agreement to leave straightaway. This payment could be a substantial sum.
If I agree to take it, do I register immediately as unemployed? Do I qualify for benefits? Are personal savings taken into account when benefits are claimed?

A question about : Job loss due to poor performance

One of my colleagues has just been sacked due to poor performance. I believe that business is not great at the moment and that they're really clamping down on the winning business side of our job descriptions.

I'm a bit unsettled about this as business development has never been one of my strong points - of course I'm going to putting a lot of effort in to improve this.
