A question about : Nationwide soft search loan v CC ??

Done a soft search on the NW website for a credit card and it came back as: Ј500 19.9% apr which I believe is a decline, done one for a loan of Ј6000 and it cam back as 9.9% apr?

So is that a likely accept for the loan?

Hi all,

I'm considering buying an engagement ring for my hopefully soon to be fiance and I think I have found one!

It is a bit pricey and I was hoping to do interest free credit over 3 years to pay it off with a 10% deposit up front on 0% intrerst free finance.

A question about : First Direct

How strict are First Direct on lending?

I passed their credit check to move my current a/c to them last year, the loan would be to clear credit card debt.

I see they are advertising at 3.9% currently, however when I inquisitively clicked onto the apply online section of the online banking website it indicated an APR of 9.9%

Is that indicative of them being willing to offer a loan to me but at a higher APR?

A question about : In a position to pay off car balloon payment loan

Hello there

I'm in a position to pay off my car loan (around Ј12k I think, but will need to call for a settlement figure).

Someone told me that it would be best, in terms of paying less interest, to pay off the majority of the loan less a couple of hundred, THEN ask for a settlement figure. That way I'd pay less interest. Is this correct?

I recently bought a house for Ј150,000 and put down 15% deposit. The house needs a lot of work and im planning to get a loan for between Ј15,000 and Ј20,000 to get all the work done. houses in the area have sold in the region of Ј180,000 last year and im hopeful the house will be worth the investment at the end, in fact i think it could be worth more than Ј180 by the time im done for a number of reasons.

Guys I need some urgent help regarding a log book loan.

I've very recently, regrettably, taken out a log book loan on my vehicle to the sum of Ј1000. Since doing so I've regretted it and now, having thought about the interest etc want rid of it and quickly. More so as I'm still within the 14 day cooling off period.

I have a Ј4,700 loan which has 2yrs.6mths left to run, how easy is it to switch it onto a zero interest credit card with balance transfer fee of 2.9%. Has anyone else taken this route to pay off a loan earlier.

A question about : Experian

Why do lenders advertise a representative APR and, AFTER a loan is applied for, rarely is it what they advertise? I can understand why this USED to happen but, with modern technology and the likes of Experian and Equifax, in which your files can be instantly accessed by lenders, surely they should check your rating (using a soft search) in order to give you an accurate quotation before committing to a full on application.
