Really fed up with British gas as after many many phonecalls and reassurances that I had settled my final bill on a previous address I have received a demand from a debt collection agency today.

I moved in with my girlfriend earlier this year - after Easter.

A letter arrived today from Equita Bailiffs re Croydon Council Tax. There is no dates or figure quoted.

I am currently owe my bank approx Ј9k split up from a loan and 2 overdrafts. 3 years ago I defaulted due to my work situation and it was passed from a bank to a DCA. I have been paying Ј1 a month to the DCA as a token payment.

I downloaded my credit file from Equifax, Credit Expert and Noddle. The loan is nowhere to be seen and this makes up the majority of the outstanding debt.

A question about : Trying to Avoid Debt managment but company forcing me into it

I am trying to avaoid at all costs going into a debt managment plan but one company is refusing me off of Ј25 per month instead of Ј86 per month unless i go into a debt management programme. The other companies have been great and accepted my reduced payments as I will pay them all off, just over a bit longer period of time unfortunately - is there anything i can do about this one company without them defaulting my credit rating.

A question about : Letter from debt collection agency!

Wondering what advice you could give me-

I received a letter from a debt collection agency that state that I owe British Gas Ј2500 for a period ending Jan 2010.

The address they say this relates to is one I lived in, but for a limited period in 2005.

British gas say they cant seem to find me on their stem with the address that matches.

The debt collection letters are very short, dont give many details and state that they will take futher action if after 10 days I havent responded.

A question about : unavailable bank

Is there another way to contact the Halifax from abroad??? (other than the phone no on their website, which is the only method they give?)
Halifax (I'll be there) is NOT there for friend who is currently volunteering overseas in area without mobile coverage and cannot ring the number. He certainly can't afford to phone anyway. An email would be ok but there is no email contact given.

A question about : Fraudulent Loans Using My Address

A criminal has obtained ten of thousands of pounds in a whole raft of fraudulent loans using my home address. This person has never lived at my address and I have never heard of them. I get constant letters from debt collection agencies, bailiffs and on one occasion had bailiffs call at my home. This is causing stress and anxiety. Is there an effective and easy way to stop all this other than responding to each and every letter, as I have now being doing for several years ?

hi im really hoping someone can give me some advice
i got a letter from pastdue credit solutions today concerning gas and electric provided by scottish power saying that i owe 1088.
very concerned as i had a pre-payment meter so i was paying as i used this credit company have also applied a 32 % charge why i dont know because this is the first letter ive had can anyone help or advise me as to what i do please
