A question about : Holiday Pay and redundancy

Hope someone can give me advice.....
On Friday 30th Jan 09 I was called into a meeting with my boss and a HR person to be told the company had to save cost's and my job was at risk of redundancy. I received at the meeting a letter from HR outlining this and told to attend a consultation meeting on 4th Feb 09. They state in the letter tha We envisage the consultation period will last 30 days with approx one consultation meeting per week

A question about : Trial period

Hi I was made redundant at the end of october and given 4 weeks notice, which i did not initially work, after 2 weeks notice i was offered a trial at another branch and was told that i would get another monthes money, i did the 4 week trial and i did not work out so i took my redundancy, they are now saying i will only get two weeks money as the other was part of my notice period ? sadly i have nothing in writing other than my finish date which is the start of my notice period,

Do they owe me the extra money ? Is there anything i can do ?

A question about : Job at risk

I've been told that my job is at risk and now in consultancy period. It is proposed that my job role will be removed. However the proposal is that there is another role being created although it would be a demotion. If they say the new role is ring fenced what does this mean for me? Is the job automatically mine if I want it.

A question about : When should I receive redundancy pay?

I was made redundant earlier this year but have yet to receive any payment, the company is still trading. When should I receive my redundancy pay and payment in lieu of notice? Some people tell me I should have received it on my last day, others say its payable whenever the next pay day is. Can anybody clarify this for me?

A question about : On average how long does it take for Jobseekers allowance to be processed

My OH was made redundant before xmas and his last day is today. He was given 6 weeks notice which he has now worked.
He will receive the statutory 6 weeks redundancy pay (as he worked for the company for 6 years - so 1 weeks pay per year)

A couple questions:

When do we call the benefits office to organise jobseekers allowance? Are we entitled to JSA straight away if he is going to get basic redundancy pay? (he will be claiming contribution based JSA)

There was a similar thread, but it got a bit of general chat in it - please could this be kept to Hints and Tips only as it is a sticky. I will copy and paste into here some of the tips from the other thread.

I'm hopefully in a job/career that I'll stay in now, but completing an application form can sometimes be as daunting as an interview itself. Over the last few years I've had a few of these and had help from HR teams etc.

Just a couple of pointers for anyone needing them...feel free to add any others as well.

Asking on behalf of several colleagues - if you opt for voluntary redundancy, can you claim jobseekers?
