A question about : Redundancy Help

Hi,

My department is going through a restructure at present and am concerned with regards what might happen.

New roles were advertised (with different job titles etc) but there was only 1 position at the same grade as me, where 3 people currently all do this.

I didnt want to apply for the role as I dont want to be in the department any more and wanted a change - probably outside of the company.

There is a very real danger that many people are falling into a tax trap because of the lack of clear information on how the redundacy pay tax system works and the quirks and side effects the system has.

I've just saved myself a whopping Ј13k by spotting the tax trap, so I guess it's a good time to share ... I mean the advice, not the money!

benefit means testing for savings

A question about : benefit means testing for savings

Maybe a question for a different forum but I'm new here so here goes:
My company are planning redundancies so I'm planning the worst. How soon do the benefits office start asking about savings & how far back do they dig? Do endowment policies(non-mortgage linked) count as savings? It has a life insurance aspect to it.
If, after redundancy, I were to use savings for home improvements whilst on contibution JSA, could I be judged as depriving myself by reducing savings, & thereby jeopardising benefits?

My wife is in a difficult position at work. We don't know much about employment law so I hope some of the regulars can offer some advice.

My wife works in Local Government. She has been employed by her organisation for about 7 years. The organisation is being part-privatised and she is being asked to re-locate to a different office in a different city to retain her current role.

Take over of a business/comany

A question about : Take over of a business/comany

Hello all,just one or two questions someone may be able to answer,for me.
How do takeovers from one business to another work,do all rights stay in place ?
As i have been on long term sick for a while,but a long term employee,over 10 years,i have heard of a take over whilst on leave.
I have had no contact with my employer,last December 2013,one human resources,who was dealing with me has now a dead phone number and i have also contacted by mail,letters and sick notes regular,but as to yet no correspondence.

being dismissed for poor performance

A question about : being dismissed for poor performance

Hello,

My employer is calling me to a meeting tomorrow as i've had low in my performance as decided by my managers.

I don't agree with this low performance and feel it was awarded because I was signed off work a month this year with exhaustion and when I returned to work did tell management that I'm not prepared to work longer than my contracted hours. Sadly I think not working for free in the evenings and weekends counts as low performance in their books.
