Pancake Day!

A question about : Pancake Day!

/

It's Pancake Day tomorrow which is one of our favourite things to celebrate at MSE, seeing as it's all based around using what you've got in your cupboards and being a bit thrifty!

So we want you to vote in The Great MSE Poll...Sweet or Savoury?

I personally prefer the classic lemon and sugar, but I've seen some great combinations out there from Nutella and banana to Chicken satay! :/

Feel free to post your best, thriftiest recipes as well.

Removing pen from books

A question about : Removing pen from books

I am not sure if this is the place, but thought there might be an old school way of doing thistitle=Smile

My son has written on a book of mine, well one i borrowed from a friend at work.
He has written his name (which normally would be a good thing as he is still learning to write) in pen on the front few pages of a book, anyone have any ideas of how to remove it so I don't have to buy the book for my friend.

Thanks

Food drying

A question about : Food drying

I am not sure if this is something which would interest you OS people, but at www.tchibo.co.uk they are selling a food drier for Ј24.99. I know the Americans go in for this method of food storage a lot. However it does look quite a large gadget so it would depend if you thought the benefit would outweigh the space it would take up!title=Smile

Can I put made up batter in the fridge for a few days?

A question about : Can I put made up batter in the fridge for a few days?

I bought Aunt Bessie's Chocolate pancake mix in the shake up bottle.

It makes 6 and I live on my own and I would find 6 too much. Could I put the made up stuff in the fridge for a few days? Or should I make them all tonight, eat what I can and put the cooked ones, once cooled down in the fridge?

No instructions on the packet re this.

    Happy Shrove Tuesday

This is an over the garden fence type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It's a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we're going to do today or what we've achieved already. Everyone's welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn't just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

    Freezing Carry out Pizza

A question about : Freezing Carry out Pizza

Took advantage of our local chip shop's offer of 2 for 1 pizza tonight. DH and I have only eaten 1 of them (they are large pizzas). Presume it is OK to freeze the remaining pizza and then reheat as you would shop bought frozen pizza?

How Often Do You Clean Out Your Kitchen Cupboards?

A question about : How Often Do You Clean Out Your Kitchen Cupboards?

I think for a lot of women including me (maybe men too?) this question will bring a nasty pang of guilt/dread or at least a moment of unpleasant pondering. By cleaning them out I don't mean pushing things to one side and giving the cupboard a quick bleachy wipe. I am talking about the empty everything out, throw out of date things away and thorough clean kind of cleaning.
