Worktop repair

A question about : Worktop repair

Hi, I'm hoping someone has used this company - www.plastic-surgeon.co.uk

They seem pretty good but you never know how much has been photoshopped. I dropped my super heavy microwave whilst moving it onto my work surface and it has put a small dent and scratch in it. It isn't an expensive work surface, I think it's just laminate covered.

Air Bricks... how many and where to put them?

A question about : Air Bricks... how many and where to put them?

As part of the next stage in our refurb of a 2-bed victorian terrace (circa 1880) we'd like to tackle sub floor ventilation and damp proofing in the front bay area of our house.

Our structural survey highlighted 'inadequate sub floor ventilation' and ground floor damp in the front bay area caused by the lower bay having been rendered poorly and a raised external concrete hard-standing blocking the sub vent and bridging the DPC. Here's a photo of our current bay area:

Everything needs doing to our house

A question about : Everything needs doing to our house

Hi,

As the title states really - we've bought a house that needs everything doing to it. So, I've written a list of everything I want to do - but wondering if I'm missing anything obvious, and what would be the most logical order in which to do things.

Invoice from estate management for leak into neighbour flat (no evidence!)

A question about : Invoice from estate management for leak into neighbour flat (no evidence!)

I am a leaseholder of a flat in London - the flat is on a City of London Estate and managed by City of London.

I received an invoice last week for leak into bathroom at flat ... (the flat beneath ours).

I called the estate office today, I was told this was about a leak from our wash basin.

We do not take baths, and our bathroom floor is always dry. Never had any problems/leaks (we own the flat for 3 years now).

Replacing a built in oven

A question about : Replacing a built in oven

I have never replaced a built in oven before and thought it would be as simple as chosing any built in single oven of my liking.

However, I am now so confused. I thought they would come as a standard size for a single oven, but having a look online and they seem to come in various sizes.

My current model size is H595xW596xD524. I cant seem to find that matches especially the depth. Looking on a.o.com, the depth range from 540mm upwards. I am worried about buying one that doesnt fit or is not flush.

Unsure about whether we have Cavity Wall Insulation

A question about : Unsure about whether we have Cavity Wall Insulation

Can anyone tell me how I can go about finding out whether or not we have cavity wall insulation or not please?

The house is around 10 years old now, but our living room has three external walls because it's front to back and we simply cannot keep the room warm.
