Is This Quote Fair?

A question about : Gluechip Glass

Im having a Rock front door , with a side pane installed.
The actual glass in the side panel is same height as door, and 10 inches wide. Im aware that what they call 'gluechip' pattern is a lot more expensive than standard glass patterns that companies offer like 'Glacier' and 'Sandstone' - but Im wondering how much more?
The quote Ive had, included the standard 'sandstone' pattern, so is anyone in the know able to guide me as to how much more should I expect to pay to exchange it for 'gluechip' please?

A question about : Bathroom Tiling/fitting quote

I've got a quote for tiling the bathroom in our house, 13sqm wall tiles and 6 sqm floor tiles. Metro tiles for the wall, fairly standard size tiles for the floor. Builder to ply floor and supply adhesive/grout/trims.

Taking old bath/sink/toilet out and refitting new bath/sink/toilet -
Overboarding ceiling with spotlights, extractor fan, fitting shower and shower cubicle
Total cost Ј2400

(I will be supplying bathroom suite, shower and cubicle)

Does this sound reasonable?

A question about : New radiator

I was quoted Ј170 for a new radiator with labour on top. Would it be wise to purchase my own and do i need to purchase valves too? (and is it a standard type? I don't want to get the wrong thing).

I had a second plumber quote Ј660 to fit the radiator (3 meters along from an existing one) and fit new bath taps as one wasn't working. According to 'Which' online i should be looking at around Ј150 in labour so this quote seems too much? Other trades just haven't shown up at all so i'm feeling a bit hopeless.

A question about : Bay window re-roof

Ground floor bay window, currently has 1932 rosemary tiles.

To put new tiles, including baby ridges, re-felt, re-lat and insulate the entire space with rockwool. All leadwork completed including removing pebbledash to replace current split leadwork.

Includes scaffolding and all rubbish removal.

Ј780.

Seems fairly reasonable to me, anyone had experience of this?

A question about : Rewiring cost.

Hi, I've been given a quote of Ј2,400 for a full rewire for a small 3 bedoomed property this covers 18 sockets, the main light in each room and bonding and fusebox.
He then told me, that the replastering would be Ј300 extra and the retiling again extra but didnt say how much as I said I'd tile it.
This is all without vat and that would be added on top at 20%.

Would you say it was fair? I would have thought that the plastering and tiling would have been included in the cost.

A question about : How to pay a builder?

We are in the process of getting someone in to renovate our bathroom. It will take around 7 days to complete. We are paying for materials.

Now what's the standard practice of payment?

A question about : Removals quote

Whilst I'd happily rent a van and do it myself, my wife is keen for us to get professional removal people in when we finally complete on buying our first house.

I've had one quote back from a company who sent somebody round to survey our contents and was wondering if it's in the right ballpark. I'm trying to get more quotes but it's about double what I was hoping to pay.

We are moving from a 3 bed end of terrace to a 4 bed semi, about 45 miles from East London to Colchester.

Just been quote Ј515 + VAT to supply and fit a new fan for a Sabre 25 He Plus boiler. Labour Ј140 + Ј375 materials.

Does that seem a bit high???
