What are my chance of getting a first mortgage

A question about : What are my chance of getting a first mortgage

Hi

Me and my partner are looking at first time mortgages but we have some debt from being students on credit cards which amounts to Ј8,000
Also with cars on finance, I'm getting very nervous if we will get a mortgage.
We have a Ј30,000 deposit with a Ј11,000 as a safety net (don't want to use) and want to borrow Ј100,000.
Does anyone think this is possible? title=Undecidedtitle=Undecided

Natwest Variable Income when applying

A question about : Natwest Variable Income when applying

Hi,
Has anyone any experence with this.

we are getting very anxious at the moment. Our application is with the underwriters at the moment but our broker has concerns that my husbands salary each month can be up and down by apx Ј1,000 difference but the total for the year is always within a few Ј1,000. (7 years P60 to back this up) Would this made a huge difference for our application?

Remortgaging after arrears?

A question about : Remortgaging after arrears?

In 2009 we slipped into arrears for two months due to a job loss and as a result had to attend a repossession hearing. Thankfully with the support of Citizens advice and shelter we got things back on track and agreed a small additional amount each month to clear those arrears. This arrears payment is due to finish this April and my question is whether we should attempt to remortgage in this better climate to reduce our monthly payment?

Fixed rate 10yr mortgage 6.59%

A question about : Fixed rate 10yr mortgage 6.59%

Yep, that's correct and let's get it out of the way, I now know it wasn't the best decision I ever made. However we signed up around 6yrs ago (looking like conservatives coming into power = presumed high interest rates) and having a family I wanted to have a balanced payment each month.

? Remortgage from 4.69% to 1.75%

A question about : ? Remortgage from 4.69% to 1.75%

We took out our 5 year fixed mortgage at 4.69% with HSBC a little over 3 years ago on our first home purchase. Current balance Ј174000 and LTV 80%.

At the time having fixed payments was important to us. We have overpaid most of the time and now currently over pay the maximum allowed, 20% of the fixed payment.

We are now considering remortgaging at a much lower rate.

The Broker Blues Thread

A question about : The Broker Blues Thread

Today, I've had a HTB - EL enquiry, I've had to turn down. He's got Ј200k deposit, wants to buy for Ј395k, but can't understand why he can't borrow Ј130k on a salary of Ј21k.

Halifax has told me I can borrow Ј130k.

The HCA calculator says 6X income and 53% debt to income ratio is a non-starter, before I start on lender affordability.

Another wants to buy on shared ownership newbuild. IVA ended in 2011 and LTV too much for any lender but one which won't accept the IVA.

Overpaying mortgage question

A question about : Overpaying mortgage question

Hi all,

I'm on my first mortgage so please excuse this noob question! With the interest rate really low, I'm able to overpay my mortgage quite a bit and would like to do so. I'm with Nationwide, I can overpay up to 10% of my original mortgage amount each year. If I overpay more, there's a penalty.

HSBC tax avoidance

A question about : HSBC tax avoidance

hi

I am 2 years into a 5 year mortgage with 1st Direct.

Given the tax avoidance scandal engulfing their parent company HSBC, I object to paying this company several thousands of Јs over the next 3 years. Can I exit this arrangement without penalty due to their criminal behaviour?

thanks
