Bankruptcy

A question about : Bankruptcy

I have an elderly relative who refuses to pay his land tax. He will be taken to court in January and declared bankrupt. He owns 1 property of around 10 acreas value around four hundred thousand pounds. He also has arouind 30 thousand pounds invested. Would the debt be taken from the liquid asset or would the property be sold. He refuses to pay due to what he calls neglect by the council building inspecters 14 years ago causing the building to leak an become unuseable upstairs. He owes different amounts of land tax over the past 4 years.

Advice on getting an Annulment

A question about : Advice on getting an Annulment

Bankruptcy Annulment

In 2005-2006 I was studying at college, whilst at college I was working 4 hours per week totaling Ј20 per week. (Cutting Grass)

I told a tutor about my work and they advised me that I had to register as self-employed.
I followed this bad advice, as I was earning far below the threshold.

I got letter from HMRC which I admittedly ignored as I assumed they would later correct themselves when they knew I was a student.

Bankruptcy Questions

A question about : Bankruptcy Questions

Hi All,

So I'm in a fair amount of debt and have recently lost my job so I'm currently living at my mother's house, in the process of renting my apartment out and hoping to get at least a part-time job soon. However, prior to losing my job I was in the process of setting up a business overseas and I'm at a stage where I don't really want to lose this opportunity.

BR Charities to help with fees

A question about : BR Charities to help with fees

Will be going BR as soon as possible hopefully, but have less than Ј20 to my name. CAB have advised of charities that can potentially assist with paying the OR fee (Ј500+) and I know I can have the court fees waived due to being unemployed.

The list I have has a lot of utility company's charities e.g. Severn Trent Trust Fund. From reading up on these it seems that to be eligible for help you need to be going BR with one of the relevant utilities as one of your debts (i.e. if you had a water bill unpaid or something).

Form A Restriction

A question about : Form A Restriction

Ive just phoned land registry to ensure we're free to sell and move to find out that's the Form J restriction has gone but there's still a form A restriction.

They're saying it's nothing to worry about but I doubt them!

What is it, and how can it be removed?

I think it's something to do with when we transferred the beneficial interest to a family member but I'm unsure...

Please help!

How long does debt follow you?

A question about : How long does debt follow you?

    Hi

My partner has significant debt. Bankruptcy and IVA are not options for various reasons. He has no hope of even being able to pay back 10% of what he owes. We are trying to plan for the future... He has not borrowed any money for 4 or 5 years. What are his options? Are any debts wiped off after a period of time? How can we check what judgments and orders are against him?

    Thank you.
