A question about : A new 'tougher' thread... and so it continues

Having lurked on the 'tougher' threads this past year I have found myself drawn to MSE just to check in. The tougher threads are really the only reason why I come onto Old Style as much as I do.

Unfortunately we have lost the latest instalment and I for one have missed it dearly. Is it possible to miss a thread?

A question about : Preparing for winter II

Hi everyone,

As the original thread is now over three years old and has grown very long, I think it's time for a new one, and what better time of year to begin to prepare than September. I have tried to contact Hapless, the OP of the original thead so she could start the new one but unfortunately she hasn't been online for some time.

A question about : My home is a mess

Due to various reasons (ill health, work issues, family problems) over the past 6 months my home has become very messy and in certain places dirty

I am so far behind with housework and so exhausted at the weekends that it is all I can do to keep up with the kitchen, bathroom and clothes, towels and bedding washing.

just wonder how many of you have put the heating on yet i was going to wait untill november but my 7 year old dd woke me up at 430 this morring saying she was cold i swear i saw steam coming from her mouth so i got up and put it on the house was cold though and my ds has woken up a few time durring the night to (his only two) i now wonder if it was because he was cold too

A question about : Jelly off a carpet?

Anyone got any suggestions for removing pink jelly stains from a beige carpet? ???

• yes, sprinkle bicarb on it then white vinegar so it fizzes leave it for a while then blot off
  test this on a part that cant be seen first
