A question about : Envelope Budgeting System

Hi all,

I've recently discovered Dave Ramsey and the Total Money Makeover, which I'm excited to start when it arrives on Monday (if you're looking to buy it, I snapped it up on Amazon Marketplace for a fraction of the price second hand) and I'm happily working out all of my budgets and budget categories.

I'm looking to start an envelope system - I know they're not for everyone and some of you may prefer YNAB, etc - but it's just something that I know will suit me more to begin with.

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of big stuff that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

A question about : Lowell Portfolio

Hi,

I recently received a letter from Lowell Portfolio stating that they had bought a debt of mine (I seem to think its one from 2007/2008 which I thought I'd paid off).
I ignored it. I then received a form that I had to complete that said that if it wasn't completed that I would get a CCJ.
I filled in this form with my incoming/outgoing information and said that I could only afford Ј20 a month.

A question about : BCT 5 year old file

Hi there

5 years ago BCT took back our cars with our consent as we were in finial difficulty. No receipts were given to us and we initially heard nothing.

A question about : Removal of PPI = new account being opened

I had a loan that I had the PPI removed from as it was genuinely sold to me incorrectly (front loaded PPI, only covered 5 years, loan was for 10). When the PPI was removed, all NRAM did was close the (defaulted) account and re-issue a new number, with new payment details, which also defaulted (so technically same loan defaulted twice), as when it was set up, it was set up to start fresh with making the normal monthly payments, rather than being set up with the payment plan I was currently in with them.
