A question about : FD mortgages

I know tat there are some pple who have sent back their firstdirect applications and I want to find out how long does it take for them to get back to you that the valuation is done and mortgage is approved, i.e. before exchange of contracts and actual drawdown.

I am sending back my forms today and now firstdirect tells me tat they need to open the deposit account with them first (since this is an offset mortgage) and then they can transfer the documents to the mortgage department to process my mortgage!!!!

we have a 65 thous mortgage and are paying off 35thou,we will then be left with a 3o tho mortgage,with 11 yrs left to pay,(due to husbands age)what is our best and possibly cheapest options? my oh has poor credit (the mortgage is in his name)he had the house long before he met me. any advice welcomed as we are unsure what to do for the best:confused: .

Has anyone applied for a Nationwide mortgage recently? How long did it take to process from when you submitted the application? Mine has been in a queue for 2 weeks and hasn't even been alocated to anyone yet, is that normal?

A question about : Morgage "sharing"

Hi Folks

Before I start, speak to me like an idiot, because I know very little about mortgages!!!!

Ive heard several mortgage companies are offering special offers for friends etc sharing mortgages.

What are the down sides to this? How difficult is it to legally make sure everythings safe and sound?

A question about : Endowment Mis-selling

My experience shows that persistance pays, don't be fobbed off.

In 1986, we were sold an endowment policy with UK's largest mutual by (then) UK's largest BS, now a plc. The Branch Manager (you had to get down on your knees for a mortage then), told us about how his brother had just cashed in big time with one, never suggested anything else, despite the fact it was my first mortgage.
