A question about : Yodel sent back parcel!

Just bought a new house. Not moved in yet but slowly getting stuff sorted. There was already a delivery slip from two days before we received the keys. I went back yesterday and found two more slips, the last one stating it had been returned to the local centre.

Went home and logged in online to collect parcel from the local centre. Today, spent an hour driving there only to be told it had been sent back to the sender!

Tracking info shows customer to collect as requested but then later states Delivery / collection refused by customer. I'd only arranged collection and certainly not refused collection. title=Mad

I suspect the delivery was some internal door keys that were missing from the bunch of keys I got from the EA.

  • Hi, I'd like to look into this for you! Can you please email social.media@sm.myyodel.co.uk with your full address and contact number? Ava
  • Why are you dealing with Yodel? It's the seller that has the contract with them. Rage at the seller for not having received your item and let them sit on the phone to Yodel instead.
  • Why didn't you do something about it when you had the first delivery slip?
  • Slacked off a little here. The first slip had already arrived before I'd gotten the keys. The second one arrived on the day I got the keys. Got sidetracked with doing meter readings so I completely forgot to take the slips with me back to work.
I've since spoken to the estate agents, who had the full set of keys. They spoke to the previous owners who have no idea about the yodel delivery.
Which means someone knew I'd bought the house and sent something addressed to me. Apart from immediate family (who deny all knowledge), the only other people would have known are solicitors, estate agent and sellers.
    The plot thickens.
  • I did vaguely wonder whether it might be something from one of the utility companies but even they only knew on the Monday and by that time I'd already had two slips.
Emailed the above Yodel link who suggested getting in touch with supplier. A bit difficult given that I didn't know who had tried to send it. Asked them to dig further and the best I got was "Alternative Mail and Parcels LTD".
  • To be fair, Yodel have attempted delivery three times. The driver wasn't to know that you hadn't moved in yet, and they can't keep on trying to deliver when you haven't responded to the slips that they have left. On the other hand, I can understand that you were distracted with meter readings and other things. I hope that apart from this, your move went smoothly and that you are enjoying your new home.
  • No i understand the driver situation and the last card said it would be left at depot. I normally arrange deliveries to my work address but on the occasions it gets sent home, I normally pick it up from the depot.
The question is why, after arranging online for it to be collected in person, did it then get sent back to sender?
I checked the online tracking and at 7pm I had arranged to collect from the depot. It then gave me a week to pick it up, starting from Thurs 12th to Thurs 19th. i went to pick up on the 12th and it had already been sent back. Checking the online tracking, it shows that the parcel was "refused" and hence returned to sender at 730pm. This was not by me.
