A question about : Would this phone work with my EE contract ?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying the Xiaomi MI4: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xiaomi-Smart...1&keywords=mi4

Currently in a monthly contract with EE, I'm concerned about compatibility issues: if I put my EE chip into this phone, will it work (phone conversations, Internet and everything) ?

  • I 'think' the Xiaomi Note will work on EE 4g? Can anyone confirm?
(same cpu, bigger screen and Ј100 cheaper. But not quite the same screen res)

  • Why not get the cheaper Honor 6? I bought one and it's brilliant.

Although it's showing as out of stock direct from Amazon, I have no idea if the sellers who do have stock are trustworthy.
  • Ok. I'm told that "You will have problems with 4G coverage as your phone supports only 1800mhz of 4G but EE uses 800mhz, 1800mhz and 2600mhz for 4G! So your phone will have 4G signal in places where EE uses 1800mhz".
Is there a way to know where in the UK does EE use 1800 and where it uses other frequencies? (I live in Birmingham)
  • I thought that EE was only on Bands 3 & 7 (1800&2600) I didn't think they had any band 20 (800), I thought that was just vodaphone and o2??
    According to this too
  • Thanks guys! D123 How do you know so much about these things, do you work in that industry ?
  • Low salary?
  • Hi, I purchased the phone and as expected it works fine with EE. However despite "LTE" meaning 4G selected in "prefered network type" option (Android) it's always connected in 3G, never 4G. I live in Birmingham, is this town not covered with 1800?
