A question about : Work Programme

How many people are on it here and do the 'providers' pay for your travel to and from their site?

I have looked up the company who is doing it in my area yet they are not even in my borough so a totally different area really and they are 7 miles away so I can't walk there.

Best answers:

  • I think you may be provided with a bus pass for the travel but i don't know how it will work.
  • you would get the travel paid?
  • So I went to the job centre today and all I signed was a new Jobseekers Agreement. The hours I am willing to work must be 24 hours where as before it was 9am-6pm. I will take THREE steps a week to look for a job!! (is that all???)
The guy told me the people or should I say company in my 'area' who are doing the work programme but he couldn't tell me where they were. He said they would contact me within the next 2 weeks to arrange to see me and if I have to get a bus I have to take that up with them before I go to see who is going to pay for that.
He wrote some notes on my 20 years experience in accounts and told me the provider will get that info and make a programme to fit my needs but my needs are interviews and he said that they (the providers) can not get me interviews as they have no powers to do so.
So, now I await the phone call/letter from them to tell me when I have to go to start the work programme.
The guy at the job centre also asked me about how my life is after working for so long & now being out of work with so much experience. I told him 'I have no life'!
  • I had my first appointment for this the other day, 2 really lovely women from a local training company conducted the induction, and were very honest about everything. They also vitally appeared to care, and had backgrounds in training and mentoring work. Next appointment is in next to a months time.

the 3 steps is the minimum, i do more than that, i tihnk i average about 3 or 4 steps over 2 days.
It doesn't say what the STEPS are but apply for about 60 jobs a week and have a mega long list of the things I do every day to look for work.

well they cant actually get the interviews but they can prepare you for them eg interview practice, help with applications etc
That's what I find funny with the whole thing. I need no help with application forms or interviews its more a financial support I need badly but they can't do that.
