A question about : winter fuel payment

My very first payment went in yesterday Ј200, this will be great help to me this winter!

Best answers:

  • Mine came this week, put it towards my new iPad.
    Cue outrage.:
  • You still have to pay your energy bills, Penrhyn.
    Different pockets, eh?
I'd forgotten about the payment in fact.
  • I think I'll spend mine on gin and chocolate, and I'll have to use my gin and chocolate money to pay the gas bill!
  • It does not really matter what we spend it on...as said energy bills will be paid from somewhere. I am well in credit with energy provider but it will give me some peace of mind.
Still working and have defered my state pension..hope to retire in 2016, fingers crossed!!
  • Enjoy your new ipad. Rest of us have to make do with android tablet

  • So did I up till recently, wanted something with a bigger screen and the iPad was cheaper than the Nexus 9.
  • I used mine to fly down to London for the day to see the poppies before they were all removed. Will never been seen again in my life time and very moving experience.
Did a bit of Christmas shopping in Covent Garden too
  • Ive not got mine yet.
Do you get a letter saying its been paid or do you just have to watch for it being paid into the bank?
  • DWP usually sends a letter to say it will be on its way within the next few weeks.
  • Though sometimes the letter arrives after the payment
  • No letter, just a lovely surprise when I checked account online
  • Last year we got our Ј100 each paid into separate accounts as requested , this year I got the Ј200 paid into mine referencing my NI number , is that usual for a couple ?
  • Spent mine on a weekend in Helsinki.........cold there too!
  • We get 1xЈ200 between us..have separate pensions
  • I know I could google it but it's late...
Does anyone know what the entitlement is when someone dies? Date of death is 24th October, I know pensions and Attendance Allowance will have to be repaid when DWP finally gets round to asking for it, but if the WFA hits the bank account will that be clawed back too?
  • Good morning.. My father died 10th October a couple of years ago and his estate still received the payment, I believe the cut of date is sometime in September.
Seemed wrong to me but thats what happened.
  • I haven't received mine yet and I will be pleased to get it. I am feeling the cold already and have the heating up higher than usual for this time of year. My husband also says he is feeling the cold more since he lost a lot of weight in recent months. So, although we are in credit at the moment with the electricity company, I doubt it will stay that way. I have also recently spent money on nice fleece throws for the bed and sofa and a lovely warm dressing gown so, all in all, I am grateful to have this money to help out.
