A question about : Wife and her mother

Dudes, how much time does your wife spend with her mum?

My wife sees her mum pretty much daily, its almost like shes the only person she sees. I wonder sometimes if im just here to provide a roof as she cant be at her mums 24/7

Or is this pretty normal?

  • Making a sweeping statement, in my experience, women seem to be lot closer to their Mother's than men do.
I see my Mum at least once a week, usually over the weekend and call around for tea once a week. Usually phone twice a week in addition.
My Husband sees his Mum about twice/three times a year and thy only ring when they want something. they haven't fell out or anything, it's just the way they are. His sister, however, is around there all the while like me with my Mum.
  • I am not male but I have seen my mother 6 times in the last year she has promised to bring easter eggs over about a month ago.
They must enjoy eachothers company, but I couldn't think of anything worse
Have u actually tried doing stuff with her..... meals, cinema, theme park, hiking, swimming what ever flotes her boat, she might just think your a bit dull
  • Not male either...don't you just feel like you shouldn't me here lozzy?
Just wanted to say I see my Mum every 1-2 weeks usally when the fam gets together for sunday dinner..I get moaned at if I don't go.
OH calls his mum near enough every day and goes round 2-3 times a week and I am always told I have to go as well which I don't mind to a point. ... I think my Mum gets jealous but its her own fault I don't feel welcome thier...another story.
  • I see my mum a lot, we're close. Even if it's just taking her to the shops, or having a cuppa and quick chat when I get home from work while I pick my daughter up (she minds her for an hour or two after school for me so that I can work). But then I also see my aunts/uncles/cousins regularly too.
My sister doesn't come near unless she wants something or is dropping the kids off for my mum to babysit for her. She's married though, I'm not.
If I were then obviously I'd be spending a lot more time with my husband rather than my mum, but I'd still wanna see her.
  • Another lady gate crasher here lol
I see my mum almost daily, but only for short spells. My ex hubby on the other hand speaks to his mum about 1,000,000 times a day, goes twice for tea and used to stay over once a week . I wouldn't mind, but she lives 5 mins away in the car and lives with my oh's Dad so its not like she's lonely etc. We also have 4 kids together and are in our late 30's/early 40's - I think he was going for the peace and quite lol:
She was actually over joyed when we split because she 'got her little boy bock'. I wonder why we split - it was deffo down to another woman, but not the usual kind of 'other woman'
  • My daughter, recently moved out to live with her boyfriend, however she comes back everyday for tea, and sometimes they both come for the weekend.
I wouldnt have said that she would do this as she was very independant when she lived at home, but I am always pleased to see her
    elmer
  • I see a lot of my mum she is retired and I am a sahm, we have a lovely relationship, more like friends than mother and daughter, she is a huge support to me, we have a laugh together and she helps me round the house, I probably see her a few days a week on average but often more.
She has a wonderful relationship with my kids especially my youngest, I don't think there is anything wierd about our relationship, though my sisters would say otherwise.
I hope one if not all of my kids want the same kind of relationship with me.
  • How have things been since this thread?

  • Once I married and left home I would see my parents every two or three weeks and maybe phone once a week. It does seem strange to me to need to see a parent every day, I don't mean anything by that it's just my point of view.
  • Another female intruding..
I see mine 3 times a year....easter, my birthday and xmas.
Though i tend to call her every few weeks.
  • I see my mum and dad every day, (I'm female) my brother does see them as often, maybe once or twice a month, tho always on birthdays, xmas, mothers day, etc.
