A question about : What is the average cost per KWH of electricity???

Im currently with BT as they were standard when i moved into my flat, but when i looked they charging me 23p per 1st 105KWHs, then 10.8p per next KWH.

(This is for a studio flat in Surrey)

Ive gone on Uswitch and they say the cheapest would be Npower, charging me Ј57 annual charge, and 9p per KWH.

While they say that i could pay Ј23 per month, im very worried that cos of the rate i may exceed that amount each month.

What does everyone else pay per KWH of electricty though??

Best answers:

  • it all depends on your usage and whether you pay standing charges though, smoke and mirrors. Someone with a kwh rate of 15p could have a cheaper rate than someone on 6p per kwh but with a higher standing charge depening on their useage
  • 13.141 for the first 900/year then 7.309. Too late to do the maths.
Those on 2 rate tariffs will have cheap night rates.
  • Can you get it so you pay a different rate for nights to days, and not pay that standing charge thing??
Since i will only be using any electricty after 8pm anyways.
  • Always check the small print with npower - on most of their cheapest tariffs the annual discount (in some cases as much as Ј105!) is paid at least 12 months in arrears. Which means you will need to stay on that tariff for at least 12 months (no matter what its price fluctuations in that period) to get the price displayed on the switching sites. Just a thought.
