A question about : Wedding dresses from China

Hello

I'm looking for some reputable Chinese companies (that you have used/know someone who has used them) that make wedding dresses?

Is anyone able to recommend any please?

I'm trying to cut down costs for my wedding and I think I should be able to do it by buying a dress online from China, as they appear to be much cheaper! title=Thanks,

Thank you in advance for your help!

Kim

  • HI, I don't know any companies but I think its worth trying to find a good company as you can save Ј100's. Good luck
  • Hi, I can't recommend Your Bridal Wear highly enough! They made my wedding dress, made to measure for Ј260! The dress I wanted wasn't listed on their site so I emailed them and they added it to the site for me. The dress was PERFECT. I couldn't tell any differences between that and the real thing, it fit like a dream and was such amazing quality. I got married in it, and then done a Trash The Dress shoot in it, and it is still in one piece after being covered in coloured powder and being in the sea! Take a look at their Facebook page for pictures of real dresses they have made on there.
My dress was based on a Mori Lee 4816
This is their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/yourbridalwear?fref=ts
Oh, and I forgot to add that there are no custom charges to pay, as the dress is sent to you from the UK through UPS. So the price you pay, is the price you pay - with no added charges!
Here is a few pics of me in my dress, if you'd like to see more or know anything else just message me
  • TBH China is a bit hit and miss. You can get lucky though.
Try joining "wedding items for sale" facebook page. Lots of ladies commenting on china dresses from ebay with many pictures, so you get a feel for which seller is better. Some swear the quality is amazing for the price and you cannot tell its not an original.
I would recommend trying on dresses first before ordering from china, so you know what style you want.
  • Sorry to jump on your thread with another question! But was just wondering - if you buy a dress from China and they've completely messed it up (incorrect measurements etc) would you be entitled to a refund?
  • I bought mine from DressilyMe - and considering what I paid I have no complaints at all!!
I added an extra bit to all of my measurements when I ordered it as it's easier to take a dress in then let it out.
Bare in mind that you may have to pay some customs charges (mine was around Ј16) and you might have to pay someone to alter the dress as it's unlikely to fit perfectly the first time you try it on.
However, I reckon mine was at least 75% cheaper than I would have paid in the UK and I won't be paranoid about it getting dirty/stepped on etc on my wedding day
  • I bought two, hoping at least one of the two would be to my expecations. The reality is that even with two, I accepted I was taking a chance on the basis that it was so much cheaper. I ordered months before the wedding.
As it happened, both were perfect. The main one (worn for the reception) needed some alterations, but that only cost me Ј20 so minor. The other which I wore for the evening was perfect. Everyone commented on how beautiful the dresses were.
I would only order from China if you are prepared to accept that that you might be wasting the money and then you get a good surprise if you aren't. Otherwise, you could be very disappointed.
  • Ok, from a dressmakers point of view.
China have absolutely no time to make your gown to your measurements. You supply your details and they take the biggest measurement and make the standard gown to that. They simply cannot take each and every person who sends in a form and construct a gown specifically to that. Thats how they get away with 'custom' order
They dont use the best materials, but to anyone who isnt a dressmaker they will be good enough?
They sell you the image and not the actual dress they make. Basically you pay your money you take the chance.
Personally i havent seen one that looks lime the i age they sell.
Id always seek local dressmakers, or reputable companies who authentically make to measure
  • I've bought plenty of evening dresses (ok, they're not wedding dresses!) from sellers on eBay from China. Didn't have too much of a problem with any of them, they're all delivered as promised, and communication by e-mail is fairly easy and prompt.
Just ensure you specify UK sizes, as US/EU/AU sizes are slightly different.
Some eBay sellers I've bought from:
    4868-dresses
    easebon
    2011-happyshopping
    ymqstyle
    wrb333666
  • My dress was from DressilyMe in China - this is it on the day in August. It was perfect! It cost Ј220 total including the import duty (about charged by courier) and alterations that I had done by a local seamstress (Ј60).
If I were to get married all over again I wouldn't hesitate to use DressilyMe. However I also found that there is a UK seller on ebay that sells genuine ex sample designer dresses for under Ј200 - https://stores.ebay.co.uk/Sarah-Kate-Bridal - worth trying there first as buying a dress from china will always have a certain element of risk!
  • What a stunning picture CompBunny!
