A question about : Wedding dress without corset/boning

I went out wedding dress shopping for the 1st time this week and was dismayed to find that even the fairly minimal/straight dresses I'm looking at all seem to have some sort of corset/boning inside.

Does anyone know where to look for dresses without this? I refuse to be uncomfortable all day on what is meant to be one of the best days of my life.

Best answers:

  • I think of all the dresses I tried on, only a couple had any actual boning inside them. The rest just had some support to the breast region as you couldn't wear a bra with those designs. I did try on quite a range of designers so couldn't tell you which one's did and which didn't, but they are out there. What style of dress are you looking for because a lot of the strapless or more structured designs will have to have the additional support to them in order to keep the shape.
  • Have you looked in places like Monsoon and Debenhams? Looking on their website their dresses look like they do not have the corset/ boning structure that a lot of wedding dresses do have.
I had a corset structured dress and it was actually really comfortable, I was surprised as I was expecting it to dig in, rub and feel like I was squashed in all day, but didn't feel like that at all.
  • You really should be comfortable not constricted in a wedding gown and it all deoends on your gown style. Seek local dressmakers who can adapt something to your requirements
