A question about : URGENT:need good alternativeTO gumtree 'work wanted' section

for the last 18 months ive worked as alabourer advertising on the work wanted section. work has come through thick and fast and now they have cancelled the whole section. you cannot even pay to advertise. the section has GONE FOREVER! this was my lifeline in london. i have picked up skilled and been able to keep my head above water thanks to this particular section on gumtree and they have got rid of it. can anyone offer me a good alternative? please no other ideas of finding work i,m aware of those. I just need a good alternative that works similar i.e in the LONDON AREA. someone save my life. thanks

Best answers:

  • Op you can try uploading a CV as above or create profiles on a number of pages like Twitter, LinkedIn, Job and Talent, Reed etc
Employers look up people on these sites too as well as you looking for them etc
  • bump excellent more ideas please any alternative forums?
  • I agree that an alternative should be created.
Not knowing that this had happened, I tried to post on their Facebook page but noticed that it had been removed when I logged in this morning.
I'm sure it was because it was cannibalizing the recruitment (revenue) side.
As an SME employer we have recruited some of the best people through "Work Wanted". I find people on here are willing to put themselves up for a job rather than just replying to an advert so in some ways I think they are more keen for work.
In fact, I feel so passionately that many other UK SME's would benefit from this I am starting a project to bring it back to life as I desperately need to hire a sales/admin person ASAP!
Feel free to give me your thoughts on how we can keep it free and make it an amazing site to create employment opportunities.

  • What about Craigslist?
  • I found workwanted.london they can list your advert but it most be the london living wage or more
  • Re: Gumtree. I havenґt found any other online site to replace the section "wanted job". The links seen on other sites are not the same. It was a good way to be noticed if employers were seeking for personnel.
  • As I wrote earlier I didnґt find any other place to post an ad with the same results as Gumtree
  • Tried Facebook, or even LinkedIn?
maybe some local listing sites have free ad days..
