A question about : Unable to boot into Vista

Hi

I can't get the computer to boot into either normal or safe mode.
My OH was using Photoshop and shut down normally and now the computer won't boot.
It's coming up with a BSOD with:-
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005 0x812C976F 0X8C403924 0X00000000)

There was a pop-up which requested registration but he clicked ignore.

The computer was bought as a refurb so the recovery discs aren't available.

All help greatly appreciated.

  • Here's a free Vista recovery download https://www.mediafire.com/?nqwfzmzzjnk
or you can buy one from here https://!!!!!!!.com/4rojo37
  • Thank you, will try that (am at work now so will have to wait until I get home)
  • Download and save the Vista Recovery Disc Image to a working computer.
Next, download and install ImgBurn(No need to install the ASK Toolbar. Remove the relevant tick). Burn the Image to Disc. Use this guide(skip step 2b)
Once created, you can use the disc to enter System Repair from the Vista Windows Recovery Environment.
  • The second link doesn't work. It should be https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WINDOWS-RESTOR...item3a638f06cd
  • What file inside the vista recovery disc do i want to burn to a dvd? I cannot find one with the .iso on the end??
Please help. only have access to a computer for half hour right now
  • Oh its ok, was being a dunce, i have to write the entire zipped file right? Sorry.
(though if thats wrong, as im doing it now, i hope it wont harm the computer)
    thanks
  • Thanks. I'm on the repair screen now and there are no drivers. When I click load drivers it takes me to a Sources folder. Do I chose something from here?
    Thanks
  • Ok It did the startup repair and found nothing. When I click to do a system restore it says : to perform offline system restore you must specify the windows installation you want to restore.
But when I click OK it doesn't give me any more options.
  • most laptops have a factory restore partition, check the manual
  • What's the make of the pc?
I could be wrong but it sounds like the boot sector has become corrupt because it's not being seen, and you may need to follow specific instructions over a period of time on to fix it.
  • Aha I should have said. Its an Acer Asipre M3641.
