A question about : Ultralase vent!

Feeling annoyed after conversation with Ultralase this morning. I had laser eye surgery in 2006 costing Ј3k approx.

My sight in one eye has deteriorated in the last year or so and I had an appointment with them in the summer to check my suitability for a re treatment. In the summer they charged me Ј25 for an appointment because I didn't have a copy of regular eye sight checks since 2006. They quoted me Ј190 for a re treatment. They suggested I wait six months to check my sight isn't going to change again.

Today they charged me Ј25 again for booking an appointment (refundable if I keep the appointment) but said the cost of re treatment has gone up to Ј390 which is a big increase. An email confirming the appointment said I would be charged a further Ј15 if I fail to keep the appointment. Just feeling like the whole process is designed to extract as much money out of me as possible. Anyone else had similar experience with Ultralase?

Best answers:

  • No, but I wear glasses. Have done so for many a year. Once enquired about laser treatment and was advised, forget it.
Now let me guess, you have reached the age of around 45 years old, and your near sight is starting to fail. I am afraid that is a fact of life, The only safe way to get a fault free vision is Lens Replacement treatment.
Sorry if it is not the answer you are looking for.
  • No it's not my near sight - it's distance which was what was originally treated.
  • Sorry, had to ask the age related question first.
OK, then your far vision has not reached a stable level. Cannot help any further, except do not take the first answer. By the sounds of it, your eyes have continued to deteriorate since the first treatment, and have continued since your first two visits recently. As far as I know, no one would consider treatment if this is the case.
You will probably need to seek professional advice rather than a blind old buffer of the likes of me.
