A question about : UK bank account for someone living abroad
A member of my family who lives in France would like to open a UK current account (with online banking and possibly with a debit card or a card that allows to withdraw cash from cash machines) and a UK saving account. Can anyone let me know if this is possible and which banks are recommended. A high interest account (with online banking) would be better for the saving account. I have checked a few banks online but no success so far. For example the Egg saving account is only for uk residents, and Nationwide offers offshore sterling accounts but the interest is ridiculous (I think 1% only if the balance is less than Ј1000).

- Most banks have a branch in the Channel Islands, for example the Co-op bank offer several of their UK accounts tax free to ex-pats via their Guernsey branch:
