A question about : Theres got to be more to the over 50's

Blimey guys.... Just read this section of the board and wondering if I am really over 50!! Surely there is more to being "our" age than talking about homes and pensions!

We still like to go out like the "youngsters". We have snazzy mobile phones and all the bits and pieces that our kids have. Mrs Rumour still uses makeup and likes to go to the gym. She still hasn't succomed to the twinset and pearls that our parents seemed to favour at our age.

So come on.. Lets see if we can find some offers and freebies that give those young whippersnappers a run for their money! Until then, we are gonna razz the other boards!!!!! he he he ;D

Best answers:

  • I Agree! Somehow I thought that there would be a lot more 'activity' on the Silver Savers board. Maybe nobody wants to admit to being 'over 50'!
  • I'm coming up for 50 but I won't be sticking to this thread when I get there ,I'm gonna carry on razzing
Not much only applies to over fifties................which is why I'm sticking me nose in everywhere ;D ;D
    What's a twinset ???
    Just kidding
  • I agree, I'm only a junior member of the over 50's club myself but, when I first joined MSE I was surprised there wasn't a bit more excitement in this thread.
On the other hand I have to admit to still needing and enjoying using all the general threads and haven't come up with any over 50 stuff myself so probably can't complain!
  • If you think about it ........most silver saver stuff is really for retirement age..............I ain't retiring yet
It's a conspiracy to make us older than we are :
It should be renamed silver savers(over 60)
or better still....take the age bit out ;D ;D ;D
Then those that want to go silver can .......and the rest of us can keep razzing all over the site 8) 8)
  • I agree. The tips and links on all the other sections are relevant whatever age you are. Next year when I retire I hope that I'll have more time to investigate more of them more thoroughly. I'm looking forward to retiring but NOT to being 60! :'(
  • Ye retirings great only 59,started to go "silver" at 29 the site covers every thing I need, not interested in pensions talk.
Sell your house, stick the money in the bank rent a house and bobs your uncle live off the proceeds. ;D ;D
  • Gotta agree with Tom about the "house pension" he he he. Sorry Kids!!!!
Thanks for all the replies guys and gals.. I can tell that the so called "silver surfers" on this site are not yer average oldies.
Just an idea..... If we are all still as young in outlook as we seem.... Anyone seen any deals for Hedonism III?
Take care all and remember.... Its only a rumour!!!
  • The best deal for over 50s is MOTABILITY,you get a new free car every 3 years,in exchange for your disability pension, free tax, free insurance!!!
