A question about : Supplying own alcohol for Wedding

Hi guys,

Does anyone know of any venues for wedding receptions where you can supply your own alcohol?

I am looking for somewhere in the Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate sort of area - and I'm not having much luck!!

• We found in general it wasn't worth it.
  The prices for "corkage" were so high that it's not really worth the bother.
  They need to make a certain amount of money out of you to run their business, so you might be better off spending Ј10 a bottle and getting something reasonable from them rather than having a Ј2.50 bottle of wine plus corkage.
  That's what we found anyway.
• Sorry I don't know about your area but near where I live there are lots of village halls that can take up to 150 people and you can provide your own alcohol (if you're selling it you need to apply to the council for a licence though).
  Are there any village halls or community halls nearby you could hire?
• We did a trip to france for alcohol and got friends to do a "bar" area so didn't have to pay caterers to open it all or serve it.
• I would echo what newlywed said - try a village hall - you could do it just as nice at a fraction of the cost!

• where abouts in leeds are you .You could always glam up the old ugly village hall with ballons ,flowers and lots of cheap tule. we had our reception at the local rugby club as we married abroad.we were able to do our own food put so much behind the bar then once thast was gone people had to pay their own way.a great relaxed time was had by all.
• I've been to loads of weddings in Church halls and they always look like they were done on the cheap, dont get me wrong the people made an effort with by hanging up decorations, but at the end of the day, you cant shine a sh*t!
• I got married at easter in Nottingham (I'm from Leeds originally!) and Dh really wanted us to provide our own booze, cos it's cheaper, you can get better quality etc. and looked around community centres etc. as suggested by posters above. He was keen to have the reception at a polish centre - massive hall, but velvet decor, on a busy road in not-a-great area. I just couldn't have spent my wedding day there, not just so we could bring our own booze ! We ended up going somewhere we couldn't bring our own drink but they did let us provide our own caterers (west indian food).
  At the end of the day it may well be a compromise between a nice venue and great quality cheap drink, unless you can find a village hall in an idyllic little village somewhere. There aren't any in the part of Leeds I'm from anyway, I don't think. You have to know what's more important to you. There are always other areas you can save money.

• If village halls aren't your thing, why not ring a few "mobile bars" and see what venues they can suggest that they've worked in?
