A question about : Student overdraft stooze?

If I were to become a student for a few months and applied to all the high st banks for a student accounts, you think it would be possible to stooze the 0% overdraft that most of these student accounts offer? I know most of them usually offer something like Ј1k initally and goes up depending on what year of study you are in.

Also do they credit check on opening an account?

Best answers:

  • I think there are rules about the number of student accounts you are allowed to have open at once. I remember a friend of mine at uni wrote a cheque to herself into one student account from another student account, and ended up passing a tortuous 30 mins with the bank manager at our uni branch!!
Might be worth checking the small print....
As I remember, I think they insist on certain aspects of student finance being paid into your account to prove it is the main student account, eg student loan. And I think there are certain requirements to being termed a 'student' in their t&c's, eg not just a night class, must be a recognised education establishment, minimum term of study, etc.

  • I do a part time course but I work full time and the course is at work's expense. I thought of getting a student account to stooze, but Halifax and Barclays say you must be in full time education
I can see why they want to weed me out, and I'm sure the others are the same.
Kicking myself for not doing the student stooze when I could have done (I graduated 4 years ago, and they all seem to want within the last 3). Oh well. Look to the future I guess!
  • ive been stoozing with my student accounts for a year now, I will carry on when I graduate with the graduate accounts available. Cant say which banks as I might get into some trouble
