A question about : step change

going through the step change plan, and I have got a bit stuck, on the statement of outgoing ie mortgage, council tax etc, it asks for figures, but I pay xx amount per month into a joint account with hubby which covers this, do I put my half share for each of this or how do I show that it goes into a seperate account?

Thanks

  • Hi bb1,
Are you and hubby both putting debts onto the StepChange Debt Remedy tool or are you looking to just manage your own debts?
If you both have debts and are looking into a joint DMP I would put in the actual household figures i.e. the full mortgage and bill amounts, joint fuel, shopping amounts etc.
If you are just focusing on your debts it may be an idea to split the monthly amount you pay your hubby for bills etc between the different categories. SC can then see how much money you have left each month to go towards a DMP.
I may be wrong and I'm sure there will be a more experienced member along with additional advice.
As MB has advised maybe post this on the DMP Mutual Support thread
    Good luck!

  • I agree with the above. Also if you are doing a solo dmp but hold a joint account your partner's credit will also be affected. The dmp mutual support thread is a wonderful place to start.
